Dear HFMA Oklahoma Chapter,

I want to begin this letter by acknowledging the recent passing of one of our longtime members, Vicki Lacy. Vicki worked for the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) for 17 years.and served on our board as Secretary for nearly a decade. In Vicki’s memory, the chapter has contributed to the American Cancer Society. We are thinking of her family and friends during this difficult time.

Our chapter has had some exciting opportunities over the last three months. In April, we hosted our Annual Meeting at the Renaissance Waterford Oklahoma City Hotel. BOK Financial made possible our inspirational keynote Nick Santonastasso. Former Governor Frank Keating spoke about his time in office and the challenges of leading Oklahoma through the April 19, 1995 bombing. We are thankful to Governor Keating for his years of service to our state and taking time to speak to us. Finally, we raised over $1,000 for the Infant Crisis Services in our Give Back campaign.

In May, we held our annual mini-LTC conference at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. We had a great turnout and discussion about the current state of the chapter. The theme of my year is “Oklahoma Rising,” inspired by Vince Gill and Jimmy Webb’s centennial song. I believe there are great things in store for our chapter and our state.

Last month, the association honored our own Ann Paul, DrPH, with the highest individual achievement in HFMA, the Frederick C. Morgan Award. What an incredible night in Orlando watching Ann share her journey and wisdom in a terrific acceptance speech. We are so proud of Dr. Paul and for her continued contributions to our great state.

Finally, our new website has launched! I would like to thank Vice President Tyler Bernier for leading the effort. We hope you will enjoy the new look.

I am excited for the wonderful things happening in our chapter, and I am grateful to serve as your President. If you ever need anything, have questions, or want to provide feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here for you and this is YOUR chapter.

Sincerely,

Scott Sanders
President
